Take Action! Cap and Trade Vote passes the House

Cap-and-trade is a tax on coal, oil, and natural gas but instead of being a specific tax rate, the total level of use is capped, then companies and farms are forced to pay the government for the right to stay in business by buying emissions permits.  They bid against each other and nobody knows how much the tax will be until they hold the auctions.

It's a crazy, unpredictable tax.

President Obama himself explained last year in a San Francisco Chronicle interview: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."-APF
PLease contact your Senators-  this bill must be stopped- it will be the voice of the American people that accomplishes this!

Fortunately, we have always believed the place to kill this bill is the U.S. Senate. We will do everything we can to educate the public about the danger that this legislation poses for their family budgets and their economic freedom to help the voices of millions of grassroots activists be heard on this issue.

If the American people understand what this bill does, it will die in the Senate.- Tim Phillips                                                                Final Waxman- Markey vote( Cap and Trade Bill)in the House last night-check out how your  Rep.  voted on this bill and remember the next time you vote . This will effect everyone , not only in taxes but more lost jobs- even Greenpeace does not endorse this- Spain and other European countries are changing this policy because it does not work - The real offenders will just pick up and move to China or India - leaving a financial burden on the American people-by lost jobs and taxes. "YOU CATCH DISEASE- YOU CHOOSE HEALTH" J. Meyer

I heard a great message on taking the time to take care of yourself  so as we get older we can be healthy.  You are never to young to start. Here are two heart healthy breakfasts with oatmeal for the young and old.  The best part is you can change the fruits  and spice to your liking-be creative , let the kids or grandkids help out- right now blueberries and strawberries are fresh -
VANILLA SPICE OATMEAL

  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, optional
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, plus more, to taste
  • 1 cup lowfat milk, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

In a medium saucepan, bring the water and salt to a boil. Stir in the oats and raisins, reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

In the meantime, place nuts, if using, in a dry skillet over a medium-high flame, and toast, stirring frequently, until golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Set aside.

When the oats are cooked remove pan from the flame and stir in the vanilla and nutmeg. Swirl in the brown sugar and place the oatmeal in serving bowls. Pour 1/4 cup of milk on top of each bowl, and top with toasted nuts and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Note: For a quicker version using quick cooking or plain instant oatmeal: Cook the oatmeal according to the directions on the package. Stir raisins, brown sugar, and nutmeg into the cooked oatmeal. Top with milk, nuts (toasted or un-toasted) and cinnamon.

Recipes

Baked Oatmeal

    Ingredients
  • 2  cups Quick Quaker® Oats OR 2-1/4 cups Old Fashioned Quaker® Oats, uncooked
  • 1/3  cup granulated sugar
  • 3-1/3  cups fat-free milk
  • 2  eggs OR 1/2 cup egg substitute, lightly beaten
  • 2  teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/3  cup firmly packed brown sugar

Preparation

Heat oven to 350ยบ F. Spray 8-inch square glass baking dish with cooking spray.

In large bowl, combine oats and granulated sugar. In medium bowl, combine milk, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add to oat mixture; mix well. Pour into baking dish.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until center jiggles slightly. Remove from oven to cooling rack.

Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over top of oatmeal. Using back of spoon, gently spread sugar into a thin layer across entire surface of oatmeal. Return to oven; bake just until sugar melts, about 2 to 3 minutes. Set oven to broil. Broil 3 inches from heat until sugar bubbles and browns slightly, 1 to 2 minutes. (Watch carefully to prevent burning. It may be necessary to turn baking dish.) Spoon into bowls to serve.               ***You can add the fruit right into the mix-fresh blueberries are wonderful- try orange zest and dried cranberries- raisins-have fun! Garnish with fresh fruit- enjoy!

    DID YOU KNOW THIS!

    N. Korea threatens US; world anticipates missile

South Korean war veterans wave national flags during a rally denouncing NorthAP – South Korean war veterans wave national flags during a rally denouncing North Korea's nuclear program …

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea threatened Wednesday to wipe the United States off the map as Washington and its allies watched for signs the regime will launch a series of missiles in the coming days.

Off China's coast, a U.S. destroyer was tailing a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar in what could be the first test of U.N. sanctions passed to punish the nation for anunderground nuclear test last month. The new U.N. Security Council resolution requires member states to seek permission to inspect suspicious cargo. North Korea has said it would consider interception a declaration of war and on Wednesday accused the U.S. of seeking to provoke another Korean War.

"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will ... wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," the official Korean Central News Agency said. This is interesting considering North Korea is threatening to fire missles aimed at Hawaii-  The Obama administration's changes in the  defence budget   include-     Major Anti-Missile SystemsScrapped Several major weapons systems that the different armed services, and of course the big defence equipment manufacturers, have been pushing for over the years have simply been scrapped, either in the development phase itself or in terms of further production. Most of these were high-technology advanced or even futuristic systems designed for total dominance over all possible adversaries beyond their foreseeable capabilities well into the 21st century.

Advanced missile or anti-missile systems have taken a major hit. Funding for the Missile Defense Agency has been cut by $1.4 billion or about 15 percent and at least one major programme has been eliminated.-D. Raghunandan Delhi science forum

Didn't the tax payers have to hand over that money to bail out failing car companies and all the pork-earmarks like turtle bridges  in the stimulus package-  If you had asked me I would have gone for the missle defence and I am thinking the people of Hawaii would agree!

DO YOU REALLY WANT GOVERNMENT THINKING FOR YOU INSTEAD OF SPEAKING FOR YOU

I don't know about you but do you not find it bizzare that the government-  on the state or  national level is telling us what kind of fats we can eat and use in our businesses -where we can smoke and that you cannot have smoking in your own private buisiness (that mandatory ban should only be in hospitals schools and Government buildings and I do not smoke!)  They are regulating just about everything these days- Banks- Car industry-  possibly health care( GOD FORBID)  Did you know that while all of this is going on Senator Barney Frank is trying to pass legislation  that  would remove federal criminal penalties for possession of up to 100 grams of marijuana and the not-for-profit transfer of up to one ounce (28.3 grams) of marijuana.

Congress can send the right message by passing this bill and demonstrating its commitment to defending individual freedom, while focusing federal law-enforcement resources on real crimes. As Barney Frank argues:

"I do not believe that the federal government should treat adults who choose to smoke marijuana as criminals. Federal law enforcement is a serious business, and we should be concentrating our efforts in this regard on measures that truly protect the public."Posted in Chronicle Blogg by Scott Morgan  -                                                                                                                                     While we were all panicking about the Swine Flu   Mexico passed legislation that a small amount of pot and heroin will not be prosecuted                                                                                                                   Okay   taxpayers- so you are not free to eat butter and trans fats  or cook with them even if you list the ingredients in private business (I am all for labels so I know what I am eating - I just want to decide for myself what it is I am going to eat)/  you  are not free to  have smoking in your own private establishment ( bars and restaurants) but according to Barney Frank  you should have the freedom to have a little pot. a little pot is okay!    Please wake up people!!!   little by little our freedoms are being taken away from us. Our Founding Fathers stated  that big government is not a good thing- if you do not believe  me go to any library or bookstore and find a book on the Founding Fathers or pick up a copy of The Five Thousand Year leap                           President Obama I just heard you say that you do not want the tobacco industry to entice teenagers to smoke- and you enacted legislation to do so - I hope you feel the same about Marijuana- what message does it send to teenagers that a little bit of pot is okay-

CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE IRANIAN PEOPLE IN THEIR STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM
