Wizard of Oz Party so cute

These wicked witch cupcakes are perfect for a Wizard of Oz party! Serve them with these black and white striped napkins and ruby red paper goods for a complete look.
Need more dessert ideas? How about “somewhere over the rainbow jello?” Or these “wicked witch hat cookies?” For drinks, display a rainbow of Jones Sodas, and let each child choose their favorite.

Hope you have some inspiration for your party, have fun in Oz!
Thanks Thoughtfully Simple-- to bad you didn't give us the recipes- you could tweak a few things and also have a fun movie night with some adult friends!!!!

EVERYBODY HAS AN ELVIRA GULCH (wicked witch)

You know it and I know it - we all have an Elvira AKA the Wicked Witch in our lives. Male or Female it makes no difference. As a child I loved the Wizard of Oz and looked forward to the once a year showing on TV (around Thanksgiving). No dvd's back then- Well anyway I always hated the part where Auntie Em confronts Elvira Gulch for being such a miserable and mean person. She is just about to tell her off and BAM- she stops and says well being a good Christian woman I just can't and runs off !! All the while I am screaming YES YOU CAN!! Well let me tell you every time I saw that I would get so mad. I so wanted her to tell her off- she deserved it did't she. You would think by the millionth time I saw this I would realize the movie wasn't going to change. It is only in the past few years I get why she didn't yell at her. 1. You cannot argue with crazy, mean people. You will never win. You may be on the right side of things and have facts on your side and you will still not get them to see truth or God forbid change. You only end up looking like a crazy lunatic yourself. 2.You will say things you normally wouldn't say and get more emotionally upset than needed. You will either regret what you said or think of 50 better things you should have said. 3. You will not feel better. If you want peace you have to let go - holding on just makes you relive the hurt pain and frustration over and over again and they win. I am sure Elvira's don't spend to much time thinking of how they effect other people. Remember misery loves company and the sweetest revenge is being happy and successful- and that happens when you move on. Also The Wicked Witch does get it in the end-

Buster don't let Mom see this October isn't that far off

Can't wait to make this summer salad

Greek Salad With Giant Beans and Arugula

This substantial summer salad provides plenty of protein, in addition to nutrient-rich tomatoes, peppers and arugula. I love using peppery wild arugula, but regular will do.

3 cups cooked large limas or Christmas limas

1 pound ripe tomatoes, cut in 1-inch dice or wedges (it looks nice if they’re cut about the same size as the beans)

1 green pepper, cut in 1-inch slices

1 small cucumber (preferably a Persian cucumber), sliced (peeled if waxed)

2 tablespoons chopped chives

2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or mint

2 ounces feta cheese, diced or crumbled

Salt and freshly ground pepper

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar or sherry vinegar

4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 cups arugula

1. Combine the beans, tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, chives, dill or mint, and feta in a bowl, and toss together. Season to taste with salt and pepper (taking into consideration that the feta is already salty). Add the vinegar and olive oil, and toss again.

2. Line a salad bowl (or individual plates) with the arugula. Top with the vegetables and beans, plus all of the liquid that has accumulated in the bowl. Toss together if desired, and serve.

Yield: Serves four as a main dish salad, six as a side.

Advance preparation: The beans will keep in the refrigerator for four to five days.

Nutritional information per serving (four servings): 353 calories; 17 grams fat; 4 grams saturated fat; 13 milligrams cholesterol; 37 grams carbohydrates; 12 grams dietary fiber; 172 milligrams sodium (does not include salt added during preparation); 15 grams protein

Nutritional information per serving (six servings): 235 calories; 12 grams fat; 3 grams saturated fat; 8 milligrams cholesterol; 25 grams carbohydrates; 8 grams dietary fiber; 114 milligrams sodium (does not include salt added during preparation); 10 grams protein

If you keep pursuing where you want to be instead of where you need to be, you will not have peace and success-C.D.

The problem with imagining your perfect future life is that you are often, if not always, incorrect about what will ACTUALLY make you happy.
