The Buzz on Bee Stings

Bee Trivia
* A bumble bee retains its stinger after it attacks enabling it to sting again. However, a worker honeybee loses its stinger after an attack and dies.

* Bees fly around twelve miles each hour.

* On a windy day, you're more likely to get stung by a bee.
Below are ten sure-fire ways to address a bee sting. These treatments are easy and effective. You'll be able to use them on your entire family.

1) Lipton Tea Bag. Dampen a Lipton Tea Bag and place it over the sting. Hold it in place for fifteen minutes. The tannic acid in the tea will relieve the pain and also draw the stinger to the surface of the skin making it easier to remove.

2) Listerine. If you dab Listerine on a bee sting, it'll relieve the stinging sensation. Also, the antiseptic in it kills the proteins in the bee venom and disinfects the sting.

3) MasterCard. You can remove the venom sac and stinger from a bee sting by using this card or any credit card. Just lightly scrape the skin. Then, flick it away.

4) Parsons' Ammonia. First, remove the stinger. Next, grab a cotton ball and douse it with Parson's Ammonia. Afterwards, place it on the affected area. The ammonia will neutralize the acids in the bee venom making the pain go away.

5) Pepto-Bismol. To soothe itching skin due to a bee bite, slather on Pepto-Bismol.

6) Popsicle. This remedy will please everyone with a sweet tooth. If stung by a bee, use the exposed end of a popsicle to remove the stinger by brushing it back and forth over it until it falls out. Next, apply the wrapped, icy end over the bite to sooth the pain. Afterwards, have a tasty treat.

7) Preparation H. Place a liberal amount of Preparation H over your bite in order to reduce the swelling, so you can remove the stinger. It also will help relieve the pain.

8) SueBee Honey. After you remove the stinger, apply this honey on top of the affected area. The properties in honey act as a disinfectant and antiseptic. As a result, it will reduce swelling and ease pain.

9) Heinz White Vinegar. First, remove the stinger. Then, with a cotton ball, apply Heinz White Vinegar to a bee sting. It will neutralize the venom and relieve the pain.

10) Domino Sugar. Mix water and Domino Sugar into a paste after removing the stinger from your skin. Then, rub this sweet goo over your sting for a few minutes. The sugar will neutralize the poison from the bee venom.
